DIFFERENT APPROACHES BUT THE SAME GOAL

Open surgery

With this approach, a surgeon removes all or part of a lung through a large incision on one side of the chest. This approach is adopted in complex thoracic surgery like chest wall tumour , high risk lobectomy, flail chest and rib fixation or very large sized tumours

Minimal Invasive Thoracic Surgery

VATS

It allows your surgeon to access and remove your pathology in a minimally invasive manner. Your surgeon will utilize 1-4 small incisions (2-6 cm) between the ribs to insert a camera and advanced instruments. The scope provides a magnified view, which allows the surgeon to identify the target pathology of lung tissue and remove it from the body.

Robotic Thoracic Surgery

RATS

Like VATS, this procedure allows the surgeon to view the surgical site via a camera inserted in the chest. The surgeon operates at a console, using controls that translate the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into movements of the instruments inserted in the chest.
